As part of their work in
the National Curriculum Physical Education children at
Key Stage One will be taught
skills which will enable them to develop enjoyment
of and expertise in traditional team sports (played
particularly at Key Stage Two). These include netball,
rounders, softball, football, mini hockey and short
tennis. (Time allocation is within the scheme of work
for P.E. as stated in the School's Curriculum Plan).
School is fortunate to have extensive playing field
facilities.
Outside the formal curriculum sessions children are
given the opportunity and are encouraged to participate
in clubs and teams which are organised after school or
at lunchtimes.
There are extended coaching activities in Netball, Rounders
and Football which not only develop the skills of all
children who attend, but also work towards the selection
of school teams which compete in tournaments
For these purposed school enlists not only coaching staff
from West Bromwich Albion Football in the Community who
provides this service both in term time and holidays,
but also Coachrite who provide a games club for Key Stage
2 children weekly
A Music Club for all junior children takes place, working
towards schools involvement in the Sandwell Music Festival.
School also provides opportunities for ICT sessions
after school.
Parents are always informed regarding the days/times
of club/coaching sessions and fixtures and if necessary
any cancellations that may occur.
