Pupils are admitted to main school in September of the academic year in which they reach their fifth birthday. The accepted maximum number for admission into main school is 30.

The admission priorities for the allocation of places is given below:-

Children with a brother or sister already attending the school
Children living within the initial allocation Area with priority determined by distance from the school (as the crow flies)
Children living outside the initial Allocation Area with priority determined by distance from the school (as the crow flies)

JUNIOR
Please note that if your child is already attending the school the following paragraph does not apply. The admission priorities for children transferring from Infant School to a Junior School or Primary School will be:
Children with a brother or sister already attending the school
Children living within the initial allocation Area with priority determined by distance from the school (as the crow flies)

School makes extensive arrangements for pre-admission visits and meetings. These are publicised will in advance.

Visits to the home are made by staff prior to child's commencement in the Early Years Unit.

TRANSFER TO HIGH SCHOOL

Children from Newtown usually transfer to George Salter and Alexandra High Schools, although several other High Schools are also fed.

Parents have the right to express a preference towards the choice of their child's secondary school. Further advice on this is available for the Head Teacher.

We continually strive to foster good relationships with the High Schools we serve in order to prove continuity of education for our children.

Staff from George Salter, Alexandra High and Newtown regularly meet professionally to discuss aspects of the curriculum.

For children in their last year of Junior Education several visits to High Schools are arranged, as are open evenings for parents.
